Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: (1) synthesize learning theories related to talent cultivation in the modern service industry for higher vocational college students in Guangdong Province, China; (2) develop a modern service industry talent cultivation model based on these theories; and (3) evaluate student satisfaction with the proposed model. The research employed a mixed-method approach using the Delphi technique and questionnaire survey. Seventeen experts were selected through purposive sampling to validate the model, and 100 vocational college students participated in the implementation and evaluation stage. The research instruments included the talent cultivation model, expert evaluation forms, and student satisfaction questionnaires. The reliability of the questionnaire showed a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.869, indicating high internal consistency. The results revealed that the overall expert agreement on the model components ranged from moderate to high (M = 3.38–4.09). Student satisfaction with the model was high, with an overall mean score of 89.05% (SD = 1.35). The highest satisfaction was related to job search assistance (90.80%), followed by self-assessment (89.50%), understanding of modern service industry trends (89.50%), consultation and follow-up (89.50%), and skill development (87.50%). The findings indicate that the proposed model effectively improves students’ professional skills, learning engagement, and employment readiness. The modern service industry talent cultivation technique offers a practical framework for curriculum design, industry education integration, and sustainable workforce development in vocational education.
